A few weekends ago, I saw the movie Son of God. There were many things good with it, and many things wrong with it.
I found the intro very engaging. It started with the famous words from John 1:1, and then transitioned into how God has always been there in the times of Adam and Eve, Noah, and so forth. It captured most of the Gospel story of John accurately, and the crucifixion was a lot to endure.
However, there were discrepancies planted throughout the film. For example, there was a female disciple. Also, the phrase "give to Caesar what is Caesar's", which was in a NT book written by Paul, was spoken by Christ in the movie. THAT WAS NOT WRITTEN IN JOHN! Thirdly, part of the directing of the film was bad. When Christ was on the cross, it was SUNNY! That does NOT set the correct mood for something as grotesque as a crucifixion! Lastly, when Christ died, we see the temple shaking and falling apart, but not the curtain ripping apart.
All in all, be careful not to get all your information from movies, because you could be fooling yourself.
