For those of you who don't know, NCA Day is a day on Sunday where all the good things about Christian education, primarily at my school, are explained. The basic things about NCA and its activiteis are also talked about. I've been going to NCA Day every since sixth grade, but this was the first time in all these years that I was able to help put it together. For the past month every Wendesday, the Student Leadership Institute Council had a meeting in which we decided upon all the ins and outs of NCA Day: the decorations, the food, the "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?" (NCA edition), and more. It was a success; it was also a pleasure to be part of one of the huge events at my school. Much appreciation was shown by the head of the council, Ms. Fox, who gave each of us a super-cool-a-refic-some GIFT BAG! It was a complete with a beautifully designed cup with my name on it, a mug, a pen, a T-shirt, and a swag bag (my favorite gift of all). I have no doubt that NCA Day and its preparations will be all the more bigger and better next year. |

Beautiful Creatures is a book series that I've been keeping up with since the ninth grade. It's nothing like Maximum Ride, which is my favorite book sereis. Instead of being about avian-humans and saving the world, this sereis is about a Caster family with a member named Lena Duchannes who must choose her path. The catch- her decision decides the fate for half of her family. If she decides to become good, the evil half of her family dies. Likewise, if she decides to be evil, the good half of her family dies. She has to make this decision by her sixteenth birthday, and it's a decision that she doesn't make. Because of that, everything in the little town of Gaitiln goes upside down and so many things have to fixed...and a sacrifice has to made to settle things down. If you want more of for yourself, then you can
A) Enjoy the collaige I made of it B) Read the book C) Wathc the movie Whichever one you choose (and choose wisely) I guarantee that you will be satisfied with it! Today has been a very long day. I left church at about 10:00 to drive to Coral Gables with my dad and my brother. "Why?" you ask. You guessed it ('cause it's in the title), UM's open house.
Now, this wasn't my first time going there. Today is actually the second time I've been on campus for their open house. It was quite nicer than last year, as far as I can remember. Reason number one: I got to take an awesome tour of the campus. It was cold and windy today, and we did a lot, I mean A LOT, of walking. But I hanged in there, listened to what the tour guides had to say, and enjoyed it. UM has so many things to offer, from a movie theater to an indoor swimming pool (I was overcome with joy when they said that they were showing "Wreck It Ralph" this Friday). Reason number two: I paid more attention and learned more about the school! After that, we all went back to the gym, or Herbert Wellness Center, for the opening session. My group got there early, so we had time to eat before it started. I also ran into Tevin there. Any who, it was explained to us by the speaker what it takes to get into UM, and it takes a lot of work and studying. I hope I can get there. Once she was done speaking, they began to dismiss us to different groups based on what each of our majors were going to be. It took FOREVER to be called for Natural Sciences since we were second to last out of about ten. I know ten doesn't like a lot, but let me tell you, it was a WHOLE FLOOD of students who were interested in Pre-Med! It took them seven years to get out! With patience, I was able to wait until they called what I was waiting for. I practically jumped out of my seat with excitement when it was my turn to go. I got to sit in the very classroom I'd be sitting in once I start taking classes for nueroscience (if I go to UM). I found out, much to my liking, from a current student that UM has a great art program that teaches drawing , painting, illustration, and 2D design (YAY!). However, I think the best thing of all that I liked about it was that it's a close-knit society with few people in it, much like my school NCA. I'm looking forward to going to a college where my teachers care about me and know my name and where friends actually become family. " Best day ever!" Speech competition is basically self-definitive...a speech competition. It is organized by the ACSI, or Association of Christian Schools International, and students from grades three up to twelve can participate. There are many different categories: Bible reading, dramatic poetry, humorous interpretation, dialogues, individual acting, and puppetry. I've been doing speech since I was in third grade; dramatic poetry was what I did every year other than one time when I did Bible reading. I was awarded an excellent ribbon since then and forevermore (except that horrible time when I got good), but I didn't stop there. With persistence and determination, I kept going at it because I wanted to get a superior. And guess what? I did, folks! This year, I got a PERFECT SCORE! 50 OUT OF 50!!! And I did it with a comedic monologue this time, not dramatic poetry. Turns out I'm way better than being a comedian than a serious person :/ Anyway, today was basically the best day ever for me. I hope to do well next year for my final year of participating in Speech Competition.
