I recently started taking a SLI (student leadership institute) class on how to be successful and how to make people do what you want them to do.
It's so simple!
So far, all you have to do is not criticize others and give them compliments. Take special note of this: compliments do not equal flattery. The difference between them is that one is sincere while the other one is not.
Reading on for myself, I also learned that to get others to do what you want, shut up about what you want! Talk about what the other person wants which can be accomplished if it complies with what you want.
Some of the world's most renowned millionaires have used these strategies, and it didn't fail them.
Personally, I think the hardest part for me when I try this skill is to make my compliments not sound like flattery. It would produce the exact opposite of the results I'd expect.
But I'll give it a try, and you should too! You can comment on how this strategy worked for you.
